However, there are certain considerations you need to take into account before you make that choice. The company selling you the cameras may ask you a few questioned aimed at determining what would suit you best. Giving thought to the factors below can help you make the right decision and make the process of choosing much easier. ### **The Type of Camera to be Used** There are various types of cameras the [**CCTV surveillance company**](https://mvptech.ae/) may offer you and various situations may determine which would be best. Some cameras are best to install on the ceiling while others can be on the wall or even hidden. Picture quality may also play a part in determining which is most suitable. There is also the consideration of whether a camera will be used mostly at night or at day time or in a dark corridor. You might need to ask the company to explain the advantages of the different types. Some of the common ones you may need to choose from include: **/** Dome Cameras that are mounted on the ceiling **/** C-Mount cameras that are mounted on the wall **/** IP cameras **/** Wireless cameras **/** Infrared night vision cameras **/**High Definition cameras **/**Bullet-shaped cameras ### **Where to Place the Cameras** Security breaches can happen both indoors and outdoors, it is therefore important that you consider where exactly you are going to place the camera. CCTV surveillance companies can help you in this regard even though most cameras are designed to work perfectly both indoors and outdoors. The type of camera you choose will also depend on the type of environment you operate in. For instance, if the camera is meant to be utilized in a cold environment, then you should pick one that is durable and has an inbuilt heater to ensure it is operation even under harsh conditions. On the other hand, people in the transport sector can consider choosing a robust camera that can operate even under high levels of vibration. ### **The Perimeter of the Place You Want to Monitor** Choosing what works best for you largely depends on the perimeter of the environment you want to monitor. A static camera is considered ideal for small areas while PTZ cameras are effective for large-scale surveillance. This is because the PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras are more powerful with impeccable zooming capabilities that make it easy to monitor a wide perimeter. Furthermore, using PTZ cameras means you will need fewer cameras thereby cutting costs while ensuring high-quality videos and images. #### **The Need for Audio Integration** Sometimes it may be necessary to integrate audio into your CCTV systems for effective surveillance. Including audio also makes it possible for security personnel to hear and speak with other operators, therefore, enhancing communications. Audio can also be used as another form of detection by setting systems to trigger alarms and recording whenever the audio passes a predetermined threshold. Other factors that you should consider include: **/** Lighting in the surveillance area **/** The storage capacity of cameras and recorders including the possibility of cloud storage **/** Camera compatibility and compression among other factors   ``` For more on our surveillance solutions click here ``` [PREVIOUS](https://blog.mvptech.ae/3-things-your-cctv-surveillance-company-should-check-during-a-routine-maintenance-session) Share: [NEXT](https://blog.mvptech.ae/5-repair-and-maintenance-tasks-that-require-a-cctv-surveillance-company) ### Related blogs [![](https://blog.mvptech.ae/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/final4-300x300-1.jpg?width=352&name=final4-300x300-1.jpg)](https://blog.mvptech.ae/7-reasons-why-businesses-use-cctv-surveillance-cameras) Author: MVP Tech - Convergint 20 October 2020 [7 Reasons Why Businesses Use CCTV Surveillance ...](https://blog.mvptech.ae/7-reasons-why-businesses-use-cctv-surveillance-cameras) When we talk about business safety, the first thing that comes to mind is to hire a CCTV...
