There are many benefits of CCTV; from crime deterrence, monitoring activities, record keeping to collecting evidence in case of a crime or dispute. #### The best [CCTV Surveillance Company](https://mvptech.ae) does not just install the system for you. They also offer excellent after-sales and maintenance services.   A security company can provide various types of maintenance services for your system. These include on-demand repairs and scheduled checks. Preventative maintenance is the best way to go because it allows issues to be detected earlier. Failure to check up on your device regularly can cause premature breakdown which can compromise your security. ###### ![](https://blog.mvptech.ae/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/Emaar-The-fashion-Avenue.jpg?width=800&height=420&name=Emaar-The-fashion-Avenue.jpg) ###### PICTURE:  EMAAR – THE FASHION AVENUE – DUBAI MALL    **Below are 3 checks that your security company should do during routine maintenance. Most of these are simple checks that you can also carry out from time to time to ensure that your device continues to work perfectly: ** **1- Camera lens checks** Checking should start from the camera lens. The first thing to check is that if the camera is well attached to the wall. Cleaning comes second. After a while, your camera lens gathers dust and other dirty materials that are likely to deter proper vision. The company should clean the camera lenses using a can of compressed air and wipe them with a microfiber cloth. Some CCTV cameras, especially those which are placed outdoors are resistant to dirt, dust, and water so they may not need cleaning. Thirdly the personnel should check that the lens is properly focused and adjusted. The camera view should give you a complete picture of your premises. The zoom and pan options and motion detectors must also be checked for functionality. **2- Checks on the screen and recording equipment** The monitor is what shows the recorded pictures from CCTV surveillance. It should be giving clear pictures that are bright enough with the right amount of contrast. The recording equipment should have the correct date settings for accurate recording, The monitor and recording equipment may also need cleaning if they have dusty or grimy. Finally, your company should check the cables of this CCTV equipment to ensure that they are fully functional. **3- Wiring checks** Quality cabling is important for your CCTV system to work well. Not any cabling will do. The industry standard for CCTV system wiring is RG59 coax cable. The personnel in charge should check the CCTV wiring for loose wires and wear and tear. Incidences of sound or picture distortion may be a sign of a wiring problem that your security provider should address. ### **Final Words** For your business to be truly secure, you need to ensure that your CCTV surveillance system is working well at all times. That calls for, not just on-demand maintenance but also routine checks. You should arrange with your CCTV surveillance company for regular checks. Some of these checks are simple enough for you to do. Check your lenses, equipment, and wiring to ensure that they are in good condition. Whenever you detect a problem, you can call your security company for assistance.
